英國首相卡麥隆日前在國會宣布，新一批敘利亞難民已在這星期分別抵達英國，落實英國政府承諾在耶誕節前接納1000名敘利亞難民的計劃。然而，如何安置難民，卻引起英國居2014onlinegame排行榜民複雜的反應。
英國政府計劃在未來5年內，從敘利亞鄰國的難民營中直接接納2萬名敘利亞難民，本周已出動了3架民航機，運載新一批難民到英國，這些班機分別降落在蘇格蘭格拉斯哥和倫敦外圍的其他機場。
英國《每日郵報》從格拉斯哥追蹤到位於蘇格蘭西部的布特島（Bute），發現15個敘利亞家庭被安置在此。布特島人口僅6500，泰半是退休老人，年輕人因求學和工作，多被迫離鄉背井。這些難民受到的禮遇，已令許多在撙節政策下掙扎的當地人不平。
布特地方政府不但提供這些敘利亞難民免費住宿，並替這些家庭繳納水電瓦斯和稅金。在他們可以申領社會福利金前，每個成年難民都核發有200英鎊（約台幣1萬元）的緊急基金。
此外，政府還開放羅馬天主教教堂大廳，做為這些穆斯林難民聚會和祈禱之處，他們可以在教堂每天祈禱5次。這裡白天停放了嬉戲難民孩子的新腳踏車，父母則在教堂外抽菸，或以iPhone打電話。一名地方退休人士告訴《每日郵報》，「這裡有很多孩子耶誕節想要一輛腳踏車，但父母買不起，難民孩子卻已擁有免費新腳踏車。」這些難民還被告知，不要告訴當地居民有關人們獲得的協助與福利。
